Ce sont des images prises au cours de plusieurs voyages sur les rivages de la Mer Noire ; principalement en Crimée et à Odessa, mais aussi à Constanta en Roumanie, à Varna en Bulgarie, et à Batoumi en Géorgie. Le Tour ne sera complet, si l'on peut dire, que lorsqu'on sera allé sur les rivages de la Turquie et ceux de la Russie. Les pays qui entourent la mer Noire sont aujourd'hui l'Ukraine au nord (la Crimée), la Russie et la Géorgie à l'Est, la Turquie au Sud, la Bulgarie et la Roumanie à l'ouest. Avec l'entrée de ces deux derniers Etats dans l'Union, celle-ci est désormais riveraine. Cette mer qui fut naguère fortement insérée dans l'espace soviétique est devenue en grande partie européenne.
